GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Three New Bern high schoolers placed highly in a national championship, and one of them took the top.
Craven County Schools has announced that New Bern Beta Club highschoolers finished in the top eight of the 2026 National Beta Convention. Those three are:
11th Grade Agriscience – National Champion – Maggie Harris 10th Grade Biomedical – 3rd Place – Samantha Saenez 10th Grade Math – 8th Place – Magdalene Deng
The convention was held in the Gaylord resort in Nashville, Tennessee. Students competed against thousands of others to celebrate academic achievement, leadership, and competition on the national stage.
“Watching our Beta students compete at the National Convention is one of the greatest rewards of being a sponsor,” said Kristal Harris, a sponsor of the New Bern club. “Their hard work, dedication, and courage to represent our school on a national stage make me proud every single day.”
