A Havelock man was charged in connection with the death of a New Bern woman following an investigation by the Craven County Sheriff’s Office.
Thomas John Fogle Jr., 38, of Derrick Circle in Havelock, was linked to the overdose death of Amber Ryan, 32, of New Bern, in late July, according to Craven County Sheriff Chip Hughes.
Investigators arrested Fogle on July 30 with felony death by distribution of certain controlled substances in suspected relation to the death of Ryan.
According Hughes, the investigation determined that Fogle allegedly sold illegal narcotics to Ryan and an autopsy later concluded that Ryan died of a drug overdose.
Fogle was already in custody being held on multiple felony charges when the new charge was filed.
His charges included two counts of trafficking methamphetamine; two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a schedule II controlled substance; and one count each of selling and delivering a schedule II controlled substance; possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana; possession of a schedule II controlled substance; possession of methamphetamine; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; altering or removing a firearm serial number; trafficking in opium or heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Fogle has been arrested before, according to Sun Journal reports.
He was arrested once in March 2016 on possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a schedule I controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana up to half an ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was also arrested in March 2024 on felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting public officer.
Fogle remains in the Craven County Confinement Facility without bond.
