A year ago, Chiara Tamburlini finished in second place at the Swiss Ladies Open in Holzhäusern; the St. Gallen native now plays on the U.S. LPGA Tour, where she can’t afford to miss a single tournament as she competes for her tour card for next season. Also not competing is Morgane Métraux, currently the highest-ranked Swiss player on the Ladies European Tour. The Lausanne native is also trying her luck at the “Portland Classic.”
So Switzerland’s hopes rest on the shoulders of professionals Vanessa Knecht and Elena Colombo. Thanks to wild cards and invitations, young amateurs Sarah Uebelhart, Sophia Sindersberger, Carlotta Locatelli, Seraphine Müller, and Selina Casal will also be teeing off.
The seven Swiss women are not among the top favorites in the professional field. That group includes Germany’s Leonie Harm, who won the German Masters in May, and her compatriot Alexandra Försterling, who has already won four tournaments this year and claimed her first tournament victory in Holzhäusern three years ago.
Since then, England’s Alice Hewson has won twice in a row in Holzhäusern. Hewson is the only player to have won the Swiss Ladies Open more than once. A third consecutive victory for Hewson in Holzhäusern would, however, come as a surprise. The 28-year-old has not been at her best so far this season; her best result is a 5th-place finish in Mauritius. Also competing in Holzhäusern is Shannon Tan from Singapore, the winner of the 2025 European Tour.
Admission is free on all three days.
