We’re all familiar with ITV’s hit dating show Love Island. Tanned bodies, bikinis, and influencers trying to get brand deals post-show. Well picture the exact opposite and you get S4C’s Amour & Mynydd.

The Welsh-language dating show will be returning for its second season as it takes eight new singles to the French Alps in the hope of finding love. Across 12 days the contestants will share accommodation in the opulent Amour & Mynydd chalet surrounded by the stunning vistas of the French Alps.

The new season will be available to watch from 9pm on Tuesday, February 10, on S4C, S4C Clic, and BBC iPlayer. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter.

Host Elin Fflur will once again be helping the participants throughout their journey prompting them to confront difficult choices while throwing in several unexpected twists. The host credits the inaugural series’ triumph to viewers’ desire to “have a nose at people’s lives”.

Elin said: “We all like seeing how people react to each other in a situation that’s quite intense – and I think that’s the success of reality programmes.

“Traditionally we Welsh people are quite reserved – we don’t like revealing too much about ourselves or being completely exposed on TV. So I think that’s why the first series got so much attention.”

Steering away from modern online dating norms Amour & Mynydd attempts to build in-person relationships through the power of organic chemistry.

Elin added: “Apps are such a big part of people’s dating lives today – Amour & Mynydd forces people to go back to the old-fashioned way of meeting each other like how you’d meet someone in the pub back in the day.”

These are the eight singles heading to the French Alps to find love.
