A countertop manufacturer sued Zurich American Insurance Co. and affiliates for refusing to defend it in 130 bodily injury lawsuits, saying the insurers violated their duty to provide legal defense under liability policies.
The underlying lawsuits against Georgia Stone Quarries in California courts allege harm from exposure to components in the company’s countertop products, according to the Aug. 15 complaint in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
Under insurance policies purchased by GSQ’s parent company since 2007, the insurers promised to defend and pay claims for bodily injury during the policy periods, the suit said. The …
