The New Bern Bears girls volleyball team continued its strong start to the 2026 season Monday night, sweeping rival Havelock 3-0 in a non-conference match on the road.
The Bears controlled the match from the outset, winning the sets 25-8, 25-20 and 25-6. New Bern improved to 3-0 overall while Havelock fell to 1-3.
Senior outside hitter Louisa Reno led the Bears with 7 kills. Junior middle hitter Charlotte Smith added 6 kills and a team-high 3 blocks and was named Player of the Match. Junior setter Mary Alice Evans distributed 27 assists, while sophomore libero Allie Tuzo contributed 4 aces and a team-high 14 digs. Junior Megan McGuire added 6 aces.
New Bern finished with 28 kills, 20 service aces, 5 total blocks, 63 digs and 28 assists as a team.
