Aug. 20 (UPI) — British actress Naomi Watts will be honored at the 2026 Zurich Film Festival.

Organizers announced Thursday that Watts, 57, will receive this year’s Golden Eye Award for her performance in The Housewife.

The Housewife is a drama that marks Ben Shirinian’s feature-length directorial debut. Set in 1960s New York City, the film stars Watts as “the enigmatic wife of a suspected Nazi,” according to an official description.

Other cast members include Tye Sheridan, Michael Imperioli, Luke Evans, Lena Olin and Debi Mazar.

Watts will personally attend the Zurich Film Festival to present The Housewife and accept her award Sept. 26, along with speaking at a ZFF Masters session.

“Since her breakthrough in David Lynch‘s Mulholland Drive, Naomi Watts has been one of the most fascinating actresses of our time. Her greatest performances thrive on the tension between glamour and darkness, between what a character reveals and what she conceals — making her the kind of character actress Hitchcock would have loved,” festival CEO Christian Jungen said in a statement.

“In The Housewife, she masters this ambiguity as an elegant and mysterious woman. At the same time, the film tells a true story that powerfully illustrates how indispensable investigative journalism is in uncovering historical crimes. Naomi Watts delivers one of the most compelling performances of her career, and we are proud to honor her with the Golden Eye Award.”

Watts is also known for the films The Ring, 21 Grams, The Impossible and Eastern Promises, while her TV credits include The Watcher, Feud: Capote vs. The Swans and All’s Fair.
