Includes tasting! Le Grand-Bornand has more than 2,400 hectares of agricultural land in use, and as many cows as residents (over 2,000!). Each week, visitors can discover the daily lives of local farmers and enjoy a tasting of the famous round cheese, celebrated for its smooth texture and delicate hazelnut notes. Cost 6.50 €.

Return from Alpine Pastures Festival (Livestock Descent) (Annecy)

In early autumn, livestock descend from the mountain pastures where they spent the summer. This centuries-old tradition is celebrated on the second Saturday of October with decorated herds, artisans, traditional trades, folk groups, music, and regional food producers. Saturday 11 October, Annecy Old Town. 9.00 – 18.00. Free.

Gorges du Fier (Lovagny, near Annecy)

A spectacular canyon where visitors walk on a footbridge attached to the rock face, 25 meters above the river. The site also includes the “Sea of Rocks,” a curiosity clearing, the Island of Legends, and other attractions. Cost 6 € for an adult, 3€ for a child – visit around one hour.
