Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) has added 12 Gala Premieres to its lineup, including the world premieres of German-Swiss drama Eurotrash and Albanian boxing drama Blood Money.

From German filmmaker Frauke Finsterwalder, Eurotrash follows a writer who realises that he and his wealthy family are the worst kind of people, so sets off with his terminally ill and hopelessly drunk mother on a road trip through Switzerland. It is produced by Tobias Walker and Philipp Worm for Germany’s Walker Worm Film, with DCM Film Distribution to release in Germany.

Enkelejd Lluca’s Blood Money follows an ex-convict who is thrown into a brutal underground fighting arena by a charming gambler desperate for one last big score. Dritan Huqi produces for Albania’s On Film Production.

The festival has selected a series of films heading to Zurich from other festivals, including four titles from Venice’s main competition: Danny Boyle’s Ink, Florian Zeller’s Bunker starring Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem, Ali Asgari’s Iranian feature A Bit Of Light, and Mario Bechis’ historical drama Back To Buenos Aires.

Further Gala Premieres include Jordan Firstman’s buzzy Cannes Un Certain Regard title Club Kid about a party promoter who is forced to care for a 10-year-old son he never knew he had; and Lauren Miller Rogen’s Toronto selection Babies, a family comedy about a couple whose lives are turned upside down when a friend and her toddler move in with them.

“With these 12 additional Gala Premieres, we are bringing outstanding voices and stories from different parts of the world to Zurich,” said Reta Guetg, Zurich Film Festival director.

The full ZFF programme will be published on Wednesday, September 9. The festival will run from September 24-October 4.
