WALWORTH COUNTY, Wis. — Grand Geneva Resort & Spa is looking to fill hospitality positions and internships at one of the Midwest’s top-rated resorts.

For poolside bartenders Abby Garby and Bekky Burgmeier, working at Grand Geneva is about more than serving drinks. It’s also about the people they meet and the team they work with.

“My biggest thing here is just like the team atmosphere,” Garby said.

She said the job has helped her become more comfortable interacting with people she had never met before.

“This has just been so good because I’m learning how to engage with people that I have never met before. So it’s just like different conversation,” Garby said.

For Burgmeier, flexibility is another perk.

“I can kind of choose my own hours and availability. So that’s really nice. So yeah, I plan on definitely staying here for a while,” Burgmeier said.

And for employees looking to turn hospitality into a long-term career, Grand Geneva can provide opportunities to move up.

Geneva ChopHouse Chef de Cuisine Shawn Clausen started 23 years ago as a cafeteria cook at Timber Ridge, a sister property.

“I became a supervisor, and then became a chef, and then became a manager. And it’s just been a great experience,” Clausen said.

Assistant Director of Food and Beverage Michael Koszuta said employees also have access to benefits offered through the Marcus Corporation.

“It’s truly a lifestyle that we’re allowed to live as a result of working for Grand,” Koszuta said.

Koszuta said those benefits can include movie tickets, golf and spa discounts, as well as opportunities to travel and experience other properties within the company.

For Burgmeier, the resort itself is another reason to stick around.

“So nice to be able to work in this beautiful place,” Burgmeier said.
