For the centenary of Miles Davis’ birth, Breitling returns to the mid-1960s Navitimer he famously wore. It was a watch that defined personal style, and the tribute treats it that way, reinstating it with a handwound Manufacture Caliber B09, as automatic chronographs didn’t exist at the time of the original. It’s limited to 500 pieces, and owners get a two-year membership of the first Breitling Social Club opening in late 2027. Fifty collectors can go further with a box set of three in steel, 18k yellow gold and platinum.
Daniel Roth Extra Plat Rose Gold Gilt
Storied maison Daniel Roth is revered among collectors, and was revived in 2023 by LVMH. Unveiling a black and gold timepiece at Geneva Watch Days, at first glimpse it appears like a classic dress watch, though its intricacies underneath reveal meticulous work of craftsmanship that makes it a true standout occasion. The dial is a contemporary execution of a true gilt dial, made of solid gold underneath a black masking, rather than being painted on. There’s also a fine pattern, thinner than hair, cut into the gold that you can’t see unless tilted towards light.
