Switzerland is a development model for Armenia. Our countries are parliamentary, and we highly appreciate Switzerland’s commitment and experience in terms of parliamentary governance. Welcoming the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Armenia, Andrea Barbara Baumann, to the parliament, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Aleksanyan said.
The NA Vice Speaker noted the development of relations between Armenia and Switzerland at various levels, emphasizing the special role of parliamentary friendship groups in this context. Both sides emphasized the dynamic development of relations between friendship groups.
At the request of the Ambassador, Vahagn Aleksanyan touched upon the cooperation between the parliamentary majority and opposition factions, and noted the priorities of the “Civil Contract” faction. The NA Vice Speaker emphasized the importance of parliamentary oversight in the fight against corruption. Reform of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia was also considered a priority.
The interlocutors discussed a number of issues related to bilateral relations between Armenia and Switzerland.
The agenda of Armenia-EU relations was also discussed.
