USA vs. Switzerland: The matchup

The Americans enter this semifinal matchup as solid underdogs (+186) facing a Switzerland team (-245) that is now listed as the overall favorite to take home the gold medal. But even with Team USA in an underdog position in its bid to win the nation’s first ever Women’s Curling medal, let alone win gold, this semifinal matchup is a rematch from Thursday’s 12th and final round robin session, which the United States won, 8-7.

Worth noting, though, was that the Swiss team had already clinched a spot in the semis when that contest was played. With that result, Switzerland, the United States and Canada all finished the round-robin stage with 6-3 records to claim the final three spots in the tournament. Sweden grabbed the No. 1 nod for the playoff round with a 7-2 mark.
