Islam Times – The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry said that the new round of Tehran–Washington nuclear negotiations in Geneva has moved into detailed technical discussions on nuclear issues and sanctions removal.Esmail Baqaei made the remarks on Tuesday as the second round of indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States, mediated by Oman, was underway in Geneva.
Baqaei added that the Iranian delegation is participating in this round of negotiations with a full team, covering economic and sanctions-related matters—which is highly important for Iran—as well as technical nuclear issues and legal aspects.
Referring to the Iranian delegation’s meetings with Oman’s foreign minister and the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, he said that Iran’s views, points, considerations, and concerns regarding sanctions removal and nuclear issues have been conveyed to the other side.
He noted that since Tuesday morning, extensive discussions have taken place between Oman’s foreign minister and the US side, as well as between the IAEA chief and the American delegation, and that Iran’s positions have naturally been reflected in those talks.
Baqaei stressed that the presence of the IAEA Director General in the discussions is useful, given the agency’s key role as the body responsible for nuclear matters.
He emphasized that the Iranian delegation is pursuing the talks with full seriousness and remains focused on safeguarding the interests and rights of the Iranian people.
