Walbec Group bought the 91,009-square-foot former ABB building in Wauwatosa for $9.5 million.
The purchase was recorded on February 18, according to Wisconsin Department of Revenue records.
Walbec plans to consolidate some of its office operations into the new Wauwatosa headquarters.
Waukesha-based Walbec Group, holder of six infrastructure construction companies, bought a new headquarters in Wauwatosa formerly occupied by international automation company ABB.
Walbec bought the three-story, 91,009-square-foot building at 1425 Discovery Parkway in Wauwatosa in Milwaukee County for $9.5 million, Wisconsin Department of Revenue records showed. The transaction was recorded on Feb. 18.
ABB, a manufacturer based in Switzerland, announced in April 2023 it would invest $100 million into a flagship campus in New Berlin. The campus was first scheduled to open in late 2024.
An affiliate of Walbec bought the property from 1425 Discovery LLC, addressed in New Jersey, state records showed.
Kurt Bechthold, chairman and CEO of Walbec Group, said the purchase was for a new headquarters where the company would consolidate some of its office operations.
“By consolidating some of our office operations into this facility in Wauwatosa, we’re creating a more connected, collaborative and efficient workplace for our teams,” Bechthold said. “We also remain committed to Waukesha, where Walbec has deep roots and will continue to have a strong operational presence.”

Walbec provides construction materials, design, engineering and construction services with its six companies, Waukesha-based Payne and Dolan, Greenville-based Northeast Asphalt, Waukesha-based Zenith Tech, Verona-based Parisi, Waukesha-based Premier Concrete and Waukesha-based Construction Resources Management. The companies bid on state, municipal and federal projects as well as private projects.
Located in the Mayfair and Wauwatosa based submarket, the former ABB building was listed for $13.5 million by JLL. The property is located near the Milwaukee County Research Park and Milwaukee Regional Medical Center.
