One man is severely injured after a crash occurred on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh, possibly between a motorcycle and dump truck on Tuesday.

According to this GoFundMe, Jeramy Champion is the motorcyclist injured in the accident. He was on his way to work, and sustained serious injuries after the crash.

After an eight-hour surgery, Champion is on a ventilator and relies on a chest tube.

The GoFundMe says Jeramy works at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences as a graphic designer.

“The last thing we want is for Jeramy to worry about his medical and living expenses as he recovers,” the GoFundMe states. “We are asking for your prayers and thoughts, and we invite you, if you are able, to consider a donation.”

Raleigh police reopened the road a little before 12 p.m. Tuesday.

Before 8:30 a.m., Raleigh police blocked off the intersection of Farris Court and New Bern Avenue.

Raleigh police officers were directing traffic onto Clarendon Crescent as a detour.

Video shows that a motorcycle crashed sideways on the grass near the road. A dump truck can be seen parked a few feet away from the impacted motorcycle.

WRAL News is still working to find out how the crash happened.
