TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas, leading a diplomatic team, departed for Geneva for nuclear talks on Thursday with American negotiators headed by Steve Wikoff.

This will mark the third round of talks between Iran and the United States since the negotiations began in early February. The first round was held in Muscat, Oman, on February 6, and the second round in Geneva on February 17.

The talks, held indirectly, are mediated by Oman’s Foreign Minister Hamad Al Busaidi.

Writing on X on Tuesday night, Araghchi said, “Pillared on the understandings forged in the previous round, Iran will resume talks with the U.S. in Geneva with a determination to achieve a fair and equitable deal—in the shortest possible time.”

He added, “We have a historic opportunity to strike an unprecedented agreement that addresses mutual concerns and achieves mutual interests. A deal is within reach, but only if diplomacy is given priority.”

In an interview with CBS News on February 22, Araghchi said Iran is working “on the elements of a deal” and “I hope that when we get there (Geneva), we are prepared to talk and negotiate on those drafts.”
