The wellness hotel where Sarah Ferguson has reportedly stayed costs thousands of pounds less than the luxury retreat it was claimed she had based herself in. A report in the Daily Mail claimed Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor‘s ex-wife spent time at Ballyliffin Lodge & Spa in Donegal, Ireland.

Standard rooms at the four-star hotel start at £113.77 (€130) per night, according to its website. The venue offers a spa “defined by a passion for pampering” and proximity to local attractions, including coastal walks as well as horse riding and golf. Ms Ferguson was reportedly spotted at a local airport earlier this month.

The cost of a standard room at Ballyliffin comes in much cheaper than a stay at the Paracelsus Recovery in Switzerland which offers residential treatment programmes running into thousands.

While the venue doesn’t advertise a daily rate on its website, a four-week treatment programme, which includes a team of experts, lab tests, daily therapy and a private chef, costs a staggering £91,147 (95,000 Swiss francs) per week.

The retreat’s seven-day “executive detox” would set you back over £115,000 (120,000 Swiss francs), according to the Paracelsus Recovery website. That works out at £16,429 per day.

Reports claimed Fergie checked into the Zurich retreat after Christmas and stayed until the end of January.

She has reportedly stayed at the Donegal hotel previously, posting a TikTok video in 2024 which was filmed at a nearby beach.

A royal source told the Mail the trips to Donegal and Switzerland allowed for discretion, suggesting there was “minimal chance” of her presence becoming known.

They added: “She seems to be very keen indeed to avoid being seen while she works out what to do next.”

Speculation about Ms Ferguson’s whereabouts comes as she faces questions about her friendship with the billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Emails released earlier this month by the US Department of Justice revealed Ms Ferguson remained in contact with Epstein long after he was convicted in 2008 of soliciting prostitution from an underage girl.

In the email exchanges, Ms Ferguson refers to Epstein as a “legend” and the brother she “always wished for”.

In an email exchange in March 2011, Epstein complained about a story in the Evening Standard newspaper in which he was identified as a paedophile and Ms Ferguson said she had “deep regret” over her ties to him.

The next month, someone identified as “Sarah” emailed Epstein saying she “did not” and “would not” call him a “P” and they had acted to “protect” their “own brand”.

In the wake of the latest Epstein files dump, six companies linked to Ms Ferguson were wound down.

Days after the new details emerged about the former duchess’s friendship with Epstein, Sarah’s Trust, a charity she founded, also announced it would close “for the foreseeable future”.

Meanwhile, her former husband remains under investigation after he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office on his 66th birthday.

He spent about 11 hours in police custody before being released under investigation, meaning he has neither been charged nor exonerated.
