The Bank of England has postponed the implementation of a key component of the global Basel 3.1 banking reforms by a year, as it awaits greater clarity on regulatory plans in other major jurisdictions, particularly from the US.
The internal models approach under the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book will now take effect in January 2028, though the rest of the Basel 3.1 package remains scheduled for January 2027.
