Vetropack has proposed a solution for glass recycling in Switzerland after the closure of its manufacturing facility.

The group closed its recycling glass processing facility in St-Prex, Switzerland in late February 2026.

At the same time it also presented follow-up solutions for glass recycling in Switzerland: AVJ Transports et Voyages will offer collection and distribution of waste glass for municipal partners in Western Switzerland.

Schneider Umweltservice, a partner for glass recycling, has been found for German-speaking Switzerland.

After glass production at the site came to an end at the St-Prex, cullet processing was initially continued as a transitional solution for around 30 municipal partners in the region.

Without directly connected glass production, continuing to operate cullet processing is neither economically nor ecologically viable in the long term.

Together with long-standing Swiss partners, Vetropack has worked over the past few months to find suitable follow-up solutions for glass recycling in Switzerland.

AVJ Transports et Voyages was presented to the municipalities in Western Switzerland – which includes the region around St-Prex – as a future partner.

AVJ is an established regional specialist in transport, waste management, and material handling, and has been working with Vetropack for years.

The company has expertise in glass recycling and will expand its activities to offer collection, storage, and redistribution of waste glass in the region.

The infrastructure for this is already in place in Eclépens, which is in a central and well-connected location.

Vetropack has also found in Schneider Umweltservice a partner to cover glass recycling in parts of German-speaking Switzerland.

As of April 1, 2026, Schneider Umweltservice will assume responsibility for the hub in Oberglatt offering collection and distribution of waste glass in this region going forward.
