Switzerland’s canton of Geneva approved March 8 changes to the canton’s labor laws that introduce a lower minimum wage for students working summer jobs, unofficial election results showed.
The changes to the canton’s Law on Labor Inspection and Relations passed with 60.61% of the vote, according to the results (French).
The amendments require students registered at a school or university who work up to 60 days in a year during their holidays to be paid at least 75% of Geneva’s hourly minimum wage.
