Within the framework of the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council, an international conference titled “Combating transnational repression by the Government of India: Sikh resistance and the UN” will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, organized by the Baku Initiative Group, the Baku Initiative Group told APA.
Representatives of the Sikh diaspora living in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the United States, as well as victims of the repressive policy of the Indian government, will participate in the event.
At the conference, India’s policy towards ethnic minorities, threats against Sikh activists and diaspora organizations, as well as the possibilities of discussing these issues at the UN level, will be discussed. After the event, a joint report prepared by the Baku Initiative Group and the Sikh Federation will be presented at the Geneva Press Club.
