Mark Sever leads Biel to victory over Bern with two goals
Keystone
The SCB is very well rewarded in Biel for a very poor performance. Biel wins the play-in first leg against SCB only 4:3.
For a long time, it looked as if the big skating club Bern would be happy to go on a quick summer vacation. The team from Bern started the game sleepily. Nevertheless, the game was tied until the 31st minute. Within 73 seconds, Fabio Hofer in overtime and Mark Sever scored the goals from 1:1 to 3:1, and by the 54th minute, Biel even led 4:1.
The 4:1, scored by Toni Rajala, was made possible by Bern taking two amateurish two-minute penalties in the space of 14 seconds. Bern lacked discipline again afterwards. Biel was once again able to play with double superior numbers.
In the end, however, there were long faces on the Biel side. Romain Loeffel made it 2:4 in the 54th minute, and because Biel then unsuccessfully took a coach’s challenge, the SCB also managed to make it 3:4 in the power play.
After this late comeback, the Bernese felt like winners despite the defeat. Anything is still possible in the second leg on Saturday.
