Workers at Glencore Plc’s Australian copper refinery have started a strike, after an 11th-hour meeting between the company and its workforce failed to yield an agreement in a pay dispute.

Members of the Australian Workers’ Union, which represents most of the workforce at the site, will begin industrial action at the Townsville facility on Friday, seeking a 15% pay rise, the body said in a statement late Thursday, after a final meeting between the sides.
