GENEVA — City police are investigating a reported shooting that occurred Sunday morning on Reed Street, sending one man to the hospital with injuries.

Geneva Police Chief Ron Eveland said police received a call at about 3:20 a.m., with the caller reportedly having heard a loud bang. Officers were dispatched to the scene and found a large after-hours party. Eveland described people there as not cooperative and denying that anything was wrong.

Police said officers secured several 9mm handgun casings outside of the residence.

Eveland said a short time later, police received a 911 call from Geneva General Hospital that a man, whom police did not name, suffering from several gunshot wounds had been dropped off for treatment. Eveland described the shots as being to the victim’s lower leg and upper torso.

The man was flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. While his condition was not available as of Monday morning, Eveland said the injuries were not life-threatening.

The chief said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing, but he is classifying it as an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
