Today, Beiersdorf’s Swiss teams are moving into their new location in Zurich Seefeld together. This marks the end of a process that was announced a year ago and has since been implemented step by step together with the employees. As of today, all of Beiersdorf’s cosmetics brands in Switzerland are united under one roof.

Christian Haensch, Managing Director Germany and Switzerland, is also on site for the move. Together with Heike Huber, Country Manager Switzerland, he welcomes the employees to the new location. “Today is a special day,” says Christian Haensch. “We are not only bringing teams closer together – we are also growing even closer as a company.”

From Basel to Zurich

The La Prairie and Chantecaille brands were previously based in Zurich Seefeld. The teams from Nivea, Labello, Hansaplast and Eucerin are now also moving here. 95 percent of the employees have decided to go along with the move and also work for Beiersdorf at the new location. The Basel site was closed as announced.

The bundling is part of the global vision “One Beiersdorf”. It is intended to strengthen cooperation across brands and open up new development opportunities. Structures, functions and teams will remain unchanged.

Comprehensive support for employees

“From the outset, it was our clear intention to involve as many employees as possible in this process,” says Heike Huber. However, Beiersdorf is also aware of the personal impact such a move can have on employees. “A change of location doesn’t just affect everyday working life, it also has an impact on the personal set-up of every employee. For some, it means a longer commute – or even a change of residence.”

Beiersdorf therefore communicated the move at an early stage and closely monitored the process over the last twelve months. “It was important for us to find suitable solutions for the different situations of our employees,” says Tobias Mangold, Head of Human Resources. “These include financial contributions for relocation and commuting as well as individual working time solutions and flexible transitional arrangements.” Salaries were also adapted to the new location and increased accordingly for all employees.

Joint location strengthens cooperation

The location in Zurich Seefeld offers modern workspaces, a canteen, laboratories and good public transport connections.

Where individual brands previously worked separately, a shared working environment is now being created. The physical proximity facilitates collaboration across brands: employees can increasingly participate in projects of different brands, exchange experiences and learn from each other. This creates new impetus in everyday working life and opens up additional development opportunities – and makes the global vision of “One Beiersdorf” a reality in Switzerland too.
