Offering numerous training paths and career profiles, the working environment at Zurich Airport is a central pillar of the regional labour market. Zurich Airport Ltd. and eleven partner companies have joined forces for the second time to organise a one-week event at the airport offering a behind-the-scenes look at a variety of different careers.
Over the course of seven days, participants can look forward to 27 guided tours, various information events and individual discussions with experts. Anyone interested in an apprenticeship, an internship or new career prospects will find inspiration and specific entry-level career opportunities during the Career Days. This event will feature not only training opportunities but also career paths and part-time opportunities.
A look behind the scenes
The guided tours provide fascinating insights into various activities at the airport. Participants will have a chance to visit the SR Technics workshops, for example, or gain an impression of the work done by Skyguide’s air traffic controllers during a visit to the tower. Job tours with Swissport will give them insights into operations in apron and passenger services, while dnata offers a virtual reality experience that lets them actually slip into the role of an apron employee. Service providers like Autogrill by Avolta and Dufry by Avolta also invite you to take guided tours of their shops and will show you the wide range of careers available in the gastronomy and retail sector. Gategourmet will be opening its doors and providing insights into the world of airline catering. Cargologic will also be offering a guided tour of its facilities and providing fascinating insights into its freight and logistics processes.
Even Zurich Airport Ltd. will be showing special areas: Anybody interested in canal trekking can go on a discovery tour through the underground supply corridors and find out more about the hidden infrastructure that keeps the airport running every day. On the passenger bridge, experts will demonstrate live how the power supply works for aircraft on the ground. A ride-along with the bus drivers gives visitors a chance to experience passenger transport first-hand. In addition, the employees of the VIP Services & Lounges show how passengers are cared for in an exclusive environment.
Events will be taking place every day. Since space may limited to a certain number of participants depending on the event, advance registration is required for the guided tours. The registration deadlines vary depending on the company.
Information events: Experience career profiles live
Several information events will feature companies providing practical presentations of their career profiles and entry-level career opportunities. “Take a seat for your future” is an event geared specifically to schoolchildren. Apprentices at Zurich Airport Ltd. Will report first-hand about their apprenticeships in the areas of administration, IT and operation and maintenance.
The airlines SWISS and Edelweiss will be presenting career profiles both in the cockpit and cabin, with SWISS also providing information about activities on the ground. The airline Helvetic Airways will be presenting various part-time and full-time models available to cabin crew members.
