Snow-packed streets and buried cars are fueling a new debate in Geneva, as one councilor pushes to ditch the city’s winter parking alert system, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Councilor Jamie Kaim Jr. says the alert-based system fails during heavy winters. He argues it leaves cars in the way, slows snow removal, and creates icy, unsafe roads. He wants the city to restore overnight parking bans from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. each winter.
Not everyone agrees. Some residents say the alerts work fine and call stricter rules a burden. The mayor now wants a targeted fix instead, asking Kaim to revise his plan and focus on problem streets before bringing it back next month.
