District Attorney Matt Wareham announced that Milton Chevron Dillahunt, age 50 of New Bern, pled guilty to one count of Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Fentanyl, one count of Possession of Methamphetamine, and admitted to his status as a Habitual Felon in Craven County Superior Criminal Court. Dillahunt was sentenced to an active sentence of 89-115 months in the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.
In August of 2024, the New Bern Police Department made a controlled buy off the Defendant for 2.72 grams of what was confirmed to be Fentanyl by the North Carolina State Crime Lab. The following day, while attempting to serve the Defendant with a warrant, Dillahunt took off running and tried to jump a fence but was apprehended. Dillahunt was searched incident to arrest and police found on the Defendant’s person a plastic bag containing 0.34 grams of Methamphetamine.
The New Bern Police Department was the main investigatory agency in the case and Assistant District Attorney Chekesha Hukins handled the prosecution for the State. Superior Court Judge Agustus Willis presided over the matter.
