ALEXANDRIA — A stellar afternoon for the Alexandria girls golf team continued their strong season on Saturday, April 25.
The Cardinals cruised to the team championship at the Geneva Invitational at Geneva Golf Club, posting a winning cumulative score of 317 and finishing 69 strokes clear of runner-up Eden Prairie. Alexandria also swept the top-four finishing positions individually and placed 10 total golfers inside the top-20.
Leading the way for the Cardinals, Ellie Sticha scored her second home individual title and third victory of the season, firing a round of 3-over 75 with three birdies recorded for her round. Mattea Leclair shot a 6-over 78 to come in second place as her and Sticha were the only two golfers in the field of 35 to break 80 against Geneva’s par-72 layout.
Other Cardinal performances include Rosie Hovel’s round of 81 to finish in third and Cadence Simon’s 83 to place fourth. Kayia Chapin shot an 87 to come in sixth place and Amelia Meier fired a 95 en route to coming home in ninth.
Danika Lenarz (98) finished in 12th place, Holly Meyer (101) was 15th, Rylen Schmitz (102) placed 16th, Emmy Erickson (106) finished in 20th, Corbie Nikkel (111) tied for 22nd, Taryn Bakeberg (116) finished tied for 25th, Lexi Henning (118) was tied for 27th, Taylor Bode (122) came in with a share of 29th, Molly Hoemberg (123) was 31st, Ella Schmidt (128) was 33rd, Claire Eken (129) was 34th and Olivia Herges (133) came in 35th.
Behind the Cardinals and Eagles in the team standings, Rogers came in third with a score of 396. Staples-Motley (414) placed fourth ahead of a second Alexandria team (416) and Sauk Rapids-Rice (469) rounded out the six-team field.
Alexandria will compete next in the Windsong Farm Cup, beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 27, at Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence.
