CEDARBURG — Thirteen Cedarburg High School junior and senior students, all currently enrolled in French 4 or AP French, spent their spring break on an immersive cultural and linguistic journey through France and Switzerland.

This trip continues the CHS-Lycée Gabriel Fauré Exchange Program, an initiative established in the spring of 2016 with Cedarburg’s sister school in Annecy, France.

The exchange began with a three-day tour of Paris, where students visited iconic landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre Museum, Sacré-Coeur Basilica, and the Palais Garnier Opera House.

The core of the trip was a seven-day stay in Annecy, France, a town near Geneva, Switzerland, located at the foot of the French Alps. To truly experience local life, the CHS students stayed with the families of their exchange partners — who are scheduled to visit Cedarburg in May. While in Annecy, they attended classes at Lycée Gabriel Fauré and toured local landmarks, including the Pont Perriére and La Vieille Ville.

The group further expanded their knowledge and language skills through day excursions to Lyon, France, to see the Roman Amphitheater, and Geneva, Switzerland, to visit the United Nations.
