Cornwall’s direct air link to Switzerland is set for its busiest summer yet, with Edelweiss confirming it will add a third weekly flight between Newquay and Zurich during the peak holiday season.
The Swiss airline currently operates the route on Wednesdays and Sundays. From July 3 to August 21, 2026, a new Friday rotation will join the schedule, boosting the connection to three flights a week – the highest frequency since the service first launched.
The additional Friday service will depart Cornwall Airport Newquay at 2.10pm, touching down in Zurich at 5.05pm, giving travellers more choice and flexibility when planning summer breaks.
The additional Friday rotation runs between July 3 and August 21, as follows:
WK286 departing Zürich at 11:35 and arriving Newquay at 12:35pm
WK287 departing Newquay at 14:10 and arriving Zürich at 5.05pm
Zurich Airport offers fast onward travel, with the city centre just 15 minutes away by train. Direct rail links to Lucerne, Bern and Basel take under two hours, making the expanded route an attractive option for those exploring further into Switzerland. As a major European hub, Zurich also provides same‑day connections to destinations across Austria, Germany and Greece.
Cornwall Airport Newquay’s Commercial Director, Nigel Scott, welcomed the announcement, calling it “a very positive development for Cornwall Airport Newquay and a clear endorsement of the Zurich route’s performance within the Edelweiss network.”

He added: “The increased frequency during peak summer reflects strong demand for Cornwall and the success of our partnership in developing the route. Additional capacity will support inbound tourism, enhance connectivity via Zurich and provide greater flexibility for passengers. We look forward to building on this momentum with Edelweiss in the seasons ahead.”
The Cornwall–Zurich link has grown steadily since its launch, moving from a once‑weekly operation to the upcoming three‑times‑weekly peak schedule for 2026.
