On April 29, 2026, at approximately 12:19 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to a motor vehicle collision in the city of New Bern, North Carolina, involving two patrol vehicles operated by officers of the New Bern Police Department. The collision occurred at the intersection of Craven Street and Pollock Street as both units were actively responding to a reported bomb threat in the area.
A black unmarked Dodge Durango operated by a New Bern Police Officer was traveling south on Craven Street, while a marked Dodge Durango operated by another New Bern Police Officer was traveling east on Pollock Street. As both vehicles entered the intersection, they subsequently collided.
At the time of the collision, both vehicles were operating with their emergency lights and sirens activated. Both officers were transported to Carolina East Medical Center for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The collision remains under investigation.
