GENEVA — History buffs, collectors, and curious minds should get ready to step into history.
The Monroe D. Ray Chapter of the American Political Items Collectors will host its 52nd annual Finger Lakes Political and Pop Culture Show May 2 at the Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge, 31 Prospect Ave. The show will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. General admission is $2, with students and children admitted for free.
What began 52 years ago in a small church hall in Auburn has grown into a highly anticipated annual gathering of political memorabilia enthusiasts. The event offers an opportunity to browse, buy, sell, and trade rare and fascinating artifacts from campaigns and causes that bring America’s political past to life. Items include campaign buttons, ephemera, ribbons, posters, three-dimensional collectibles, and even one-of-a-kind finds brought in by the public.
This event isn’t just for seasoned collectors. Anyone with political or presidential memorabilia tucked away at home is encouraged to bring items for evaluation. Experts will be on hand to provide free appraisals, and select items may be entered into an on-site auction.
