GENEVA — A city man is accused of abandoning his dog at the Geneva Bark Park.

The Ontario County Humane Society said May 4 that Vincent P. Wozlonis, 46, was charged with animal abandonment, a class A misdemeanor.

The humane society said the agency, along with the Geneva Police Department, investigated an animal abandonment incident at the Geneva Bark Park April 21. A Geneva police officer observed a brown-and-white female pit bull mix named Jasmine, wearing a pink collar inside the park by herself.

According to the humane society, the dog was secured by the officer, who also spoke to a witness who reported seeing a white male walking the dog down the middle of Exchange Street and then placing her inside the fenced-in area of the park.

“With the assistance of a witness description, this male was identified as Mr. Wozlonis,” the humane society said.

The humane society said Wozlonis appears to have abandoned Jasmine because he was not allowed to have pets in his apartment.

He was given an appearance ticket for City Court and released.

The humane society said Jasmine has a pending adoption and is in good health.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the investigation.
