NEW BERN, Craven County — A water and sewer improvement project is set to begin this week in New Bern.
According to the City of New Bern, contractor crews will replace underground infrastructure along Cypress Street, Bern Street, North Bern Street, White Street and Julia Clay Street.
The project is expected to last about 60 to 90 days

Work is scheduled to begin sometime between May 11 and May 15.
City officials said drivers should expect periodic lane closures during excavation.
No significant traffic impacts are expected.
Drivers are asked to use caution while traveling in and around the work zone.
