NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) – New Bern’s city flag is flying at half-staff this week to honor fallen police K9 Fredy, who served the community for years.
Fredy’s death was announced on May 13. Mayor Jeffrey Odham later ordered the city’s flag to fly at half-staff until tomorrow evening in his honor.
Fredy worked with the New Bern Police Department for seven years alongside handler Geoffrey Fulton before retiring in December because of medical issues.
According to the mayor, Fredy helped with more than 150 arrests during his career with the police department.
