TRINITY ALPS, Calif. – Firefighters have fully controlled and extinguished the Sisters Fire on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.
The Shasta Lake Hotshots and personnel from Helitack 506 have hiked out of the rugged Trinity Alps Wilderness and been released from the incident.
The fire remained small due to an aggressive initial attack from both the air and ground. Firefighters worked in steep, remote and challenging terrain over several days to build line, conduct mop-up operations and patrol the area to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

Forest officials are reminding visitors to recreate responsibly and practice fire safety as they enjoy Memorial Day weekend on National Forest lands. One small spark can have serious consequences, especially as conditions continue to dry across Northern California.
The dedication, skill and hard work of Shasta-Trinity National Forest firefighters helped protect the Trinity Alps Wilderness.
