FFA defeated Lokomotiv in the Lausanne Court of Arbitration

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed the claim filed by FC Lokomotiv Yerevan and the Kananyans against the FFA in its entirety. The FFA reports this.

FC Lokomotiv Yerevan demanded EUR 2,012,229 in compensation for alleged direct damages, as well as EUR 1,445,000 for alleged lost profits. In addition, the Kananyans were demanding EUR 1,400,000 as compensation for alleged moral damages.

The cases are related to the match-fixing case. On July 3, 2020, at an extraordinary meeting of the FFA Executive Committee, 5 clubs – Aragats, Torpedo, Masis, Lokomotiv, and Yerevan, as well as 58 individuals – were disqualified for match-fixing. The FFA, in accordance with its statutory and disciplinary obligations, conducted appropriate proceedings and applied disciplinary measures.

On June 28, 2022, the club’s membership in the FFA was terminated by the decision of the 22nd regular meeting of the FFA. CAS confirmed that the Football Federation of Armenia acted lawfully by terminating the membership of FC “Lokomotiv Yerevan”. The latest ruling also completely rejected all compensation claims.

The Football Federation of Armenia reaffirms its firm position to combat match-fixing and any unfair phenomena in sports. The Federation will continue to do its utmost to exclude such cases and hold the guilty parties accountable within its jurisdiction.
