Along with a few familiar faces and prior tournament winners, one local made his PGA Champions Tour debut this weekend.George McNeill, a graduate of North Fort Myers High School, made his debut just a few minutes north of his hometown, and it seems that the start of his next chapter all fell perfectly into place.”They’ve had this tournament here for a long, long time. I’ve always watched and paid attention to the event, not knowing whether this was going to be my first start or not, and obviously, it worked out that way. Playing here in Naples and playing at Chubb and seeing all the guys, and just to start off, hopefully, my career out here on the Champions Tour is a great way to do it,” McNeill said. Through 36 holes, David Toms leads the way with a score of -14, followed by Michael Wright at -11 and defending tournament champion Justin Leonard at -10.Along with the golf, there were puppies and kittens.Healthy Paws Pet Insurance partnered with the Patty Baker Humane Society of Naples to bring their adoption bus to Tiburon.The Chubb Classic graciously waived all adoption fees, convincing a few lucky fans to bring home a new furry friend.We had two puppies from the same litter adopted today, capping off a stellar Saturday from Tiburon.The action concludes on Sunday, and you can count on Gulf Coast News to keep you updated with the final scoreboard. Along with a few familiar faces and prior tournament winners, one local made his PGA Champions Tour debut this weekend.

George McNeill, a graduate of North Fort Myers High School, made his debut just a few minutes north of his hometown, and it seems that the start of his next chapter all fell perfectly into place.

“They’ve had this tournament here for a long, long time.
