Man killed in Ottumwa U.S. Marshals arrest attempt

A 31-year-old man was fatally shot Wednesday when members of the U.S. Marshals Service attempted to serve an arrest warrant in Ottumwa, authorities said.The shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of North Green Street, according to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.Officials said members of the U.S. Marshals Service were attempting to arrest Michael Zurek when an interaction occurred that led a deputy U.S. marshal to fire a weapon, striking Zurek.Zurek died at the scene.
