Geneva voters have narrowly backed two controversial measures.
By almost 53 percent, they approved allowing shops to open on two additional Sundays each year, a victory for business groups who say it will help retailers compete with neighbouring France.
Opponents warn it weakens worker protections and the traditional Sunday day of rest.
Voters also approved a ban on elected officials displaying conspicuous religious symbols during official duties.
But that measure already faces a legal challenge, with opponents arguing it violates religious freedom and political equality.
