Days after the Boston Bruins lost a depth forward to Germany, they bring in a younger one from Switzerland.

On Sunday morning, the Boston Bruins announced the signing of 23-year-old Attilio Biasca. The Swiss forward signed a two-year contract with an NHL cap hit of $980,000.

Biasca is coming off a silver medal at the IIHF World Championships, where he scored three points (1-2–3) in 10 games while playing on the first line with New Jersey’s Timo Meier and Nico Hischier

This past season, Biasca played for HC Fribourg-Gottéron of the National League (Switzerland). In 45 games, he scored 15 goals, finishing second on the team. He closed the season with 27 points and a plus-20 rating, and won the league’s award for the Most Improved Player

Fribourg-Gottéron won the first National League (NL) championship in club history, and Biasca added four points (3-1–4) in 14 playoff games.

“I would like to thank the fans and the club. I had an exceptional season. The memories of winning the Swiss championship will stay with me forever,” Biasca said in a release posted by Fribourg-Gottéron. “I’m also eager to try my luck with Boston. I’m going to do everything I can to meet this huge challenge.”

Biasca played through EV Zug’s (NL) youth program and played 84 games with them at the senior level.

He also spent three years in North America with the Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL). In 118 games with Halifax, Biasca finished with 81 points (37-44–81), and he added 13 (7-6–13) more in 23 playoff games. He served as the team’s captain in his third and final season.

He was NHL draft eligible in 2021, but remained undrafted and went back to Europe for the 2023-24 season.

The signing brings Biasca back to North America after three seasons developing in Switzerland’s top league, and he is likely headed to Providence for the 2026-27 season. However, his pro experience should keep him in the mix at training camp or further down the line.
