NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) – A warrant has been issued for a suspect in a shooting that left a 29-year-old man injured Thursday.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old William Cox. The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Nauzar Kyi Shaun Blount.
A warrant has been issued for Blount charging him with attempted first-degree murder.
Based on information gathered during the investigation, detectives believe this was a targeted incident involving individuals known to one another.
At 11:28 a.m. Thursday, the New Bern Police Department received a ShotSpotter alert in the area of Raynor Drive in New Bern. When officers arrived, they located Cox suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers gave medical aid until paramedics arrived and transported the victim to CarolinaEast Medical Center. He was later flown to ECU Health Medical Center for further treatment.
