Georg Schubiger, the co-chief executive of Vontobel, has been chosen to lead the Association of Swiss Asset and Wealth Management Banks (VAV), replacing Giorgio Pradelli of EFG International.
Pradelli is due to become chairman of the Swiss Bankers Association.
Stefan Bollinger, chief executive of Bank Julius Bär & Co, was selected as the group’s next vice-president.
Alexander Classen, chairman of the board at EFG International, and Marcel Rohner, vice-chairman of the board at Union Bancaire Privée (UBP), were also elected to the board.
The changes are scheduled to take effect on 18 September 2026.
Schubiger has served as VAV vice-president since 2024.
The association said Schubiger and Bollinger have extensive international management experience in banking, with a focus on wealth management, and are familiar with the domestic and overseas issues affecting Swiss private banking.
Pradelli has been involved with the board since 2019 and has led the association for the past two years.
The statement also referred to Guy de Picciotto, noting his 25 years on the VAV board and his role during a period of major change for the sector.
The new VAV President said: “Switzerland is recognised worldwide for the quality and trustworthiness of its wealth management. To ensure this remains the case, we need successful market participants, welltrained professionals, an openness to new technologies, and a regulatory framework that creates stability while guaranteeing international competitiveness. I am committed to contributing towards these objectives together with my colleagues.”
“Vontobel co-CEO to lead Swiss wealth banks association ” was originally created and published by Private Banker International, a GlobalData owned brand.
