Canada’s home World Cup party has already delivered one historic night. Now, the co-hosts have a chance to finish the job in Group B.

Canada takes on Switzerland today, June 24, at Vancouver Stadium, with first place in the group on the line.

The Canadians opened their tournament with a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina before breaking through in style against Qatar, earning the men’s national team’s first-ever World Cup win with a 6-0 demolition.

Switzerland, meanwhile, has also taken four points from its first two games, drawing 1-1 with Qatar before beating Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1. Rising Swiss attacker Johan Manzambi has been one of the breakout names of Group B after scoring twice in the win.

What’s at stake in Group B?

Canada and Switzerland both enter the final round of Group B games unbeaten, and today’s matchup will decide who finishes top of the group.

Canada’s goal difference received a massive boost from the 6-0 win over Qatar, so a draw should be enough for Jesse Marsch’s side to stay ahead of Switzerland. The Swiss likely need a win to leapfrog the co-hosts.

The Group B winner is currently lined up for a Round of 32 match at Vancouver Stadium on July 2, while the runner-up would play on June 28 in Los Angeles.
