Swiss healthcare company Roche has announced a new digital technology hub in Hyderabad, expanding its technology presence in India. The facility will support digital innovation, IT services, and healthcare technology development alongside its existing Pune center.
Swiss healthcare giant Roche has announced plans to establish a new Digital Technology Hub in Hyderabad, marking a major expansion of its technology operations in India. The facility will become the company’s second digital hub in the country after Pune and is expected to begin operations in the first quarter of 2027.
The move is part of Roche’s broader strategy to strengthen its global technology network and leverage India’s growing healthcare and technology talent base. The company plans to gradually expand the Hyderabad center over the coming years as demand for digital healthcare solutions continues to grow.
Highlighting the significance of the new location, Ramesh Durvasula, Chief Data Officer at Roche, said, “Hyderabad is a destination for an exceptional talent pool, especially for the pharmaceutical and life sciences domain. By tapping into India’s vibrant healthcare and technology ecosystem, we are creating scalable data-driven innovations to advance our core purpose of improving patient care”.
The Hyderabad hub will work alongside Roche’s existing Pune facility and support a wide range of digital and technology functions. Teams based at the two centers will focus on delivering IT services, developing digital applications, and supporting key areas such as biostatistics, enterprise resource planning (ERP), and medical safety.
According to the company, the new center will add greater depth to its life sciences expertise and strengthen its ability to build advanced digital solutions for the healthcare sector. The expansion is also expected to help Roche accelerate innovation and improve operational efficiency across its global business.
Raja Jamalamadaka, Vice-President and Site Head of Roche’s Pune and Hyderabad operations, emphasized the company’s long-term commitment to India. He said, “Our investment in Hyderabad – a rapidly growing destination for research, technology and high-end innovations – reflects our long-term commitment to India and its ecosystem. By scaling our footprint, we are enhancing our capability to orchestrate seamless, next-generation digital and technology solutions”.
Roche has already established a strong foundation in India through its Digital Centre of Excellence (DCoE) in Pune. The company previously described the Pune facility as an important milestone in its long-term vision to build a data-driven insights business and advance healthcare innovation through digital transformation.
The Pune center supports several strategic initiatives, including laboratory insights, clinical workflow optimization, clinical decision support systems, and patient monitoring technologies. These capabilities help healthcare providers make informed decisions and improve patient outcomes through technology-enabled solutions.
In addition to technology and innovation, Roche places significant emphasis on workplace design and employee experience.
