KINSTON, Ala. (WTVY) -A 5-year-old child drowned in a residential swimming pool early Saturday in the Kinston area, Geneva County Coroner Donnie Adkinson said.
Paramedics took the child to a hospital in Opp, Alabama, but efforts to save the child were unsuccessful. An autopsy will be performed.
“This is a heart-breaking tragedy,” Adkinson said. “As families enjoy the holiday weekend, I encourage everyone to pay special attention to children, especially around pools, ponds, lakes, and other bodies of water.”
Adkinson did not release the child’s name.
