The Colombia-Switzerland match will see a different outfit. Colombia will wear its yellow shirt, white shorts, and white socks against Switzerland in the 2026 FIFA World Cup round of 16 after FIFA confirmed the official uniform combination for Tuesday’s match in Vancouver.
The kit recreates the one Colombia wore in its 2-0 victory over Uruguay during the 2014 World Cup, when the national team reached the quarter-finals for the first time. Switzerland, designated as the home team, will play in its all-red uniform, requiring Colombia to adjust two elements of its home strip under FIFA’s colour-contrast regulations.
The confirmation has attracted attention because Colombia has worn several different combinations during the tournament. While the yellow shirt remains unchanged, FIFA instructed the team to replace the blue shorts and red socks used against Ghana with white shorts and white socks for the knockout match. The decision follows the standard pre-match procedure in which FIFA assigns the final uniform combinations after reviewing potential colour conflicts between both teams.

The 2014 uniform has become a point of conversation among supporters because it is associated with Colombia’s best World Cup campaign. On 28 June 2014, the team defeated Uruguay 2-0 in the round of 16 in Rio de Janeiro before advancing to the last eight for the first time. James Rodríguez scored both goals, including the volley later chosen as the tournament’s best goal.
FIFA assigns each team’s colours before every match to guarantee sufficient contrast between opponents, goalkeepers, match officials and television broadcasts. Switzerland will wear its traditional all-red uniform, including red shirt, red shorts and red socks. As a result, Colombia will use a modified version of its home strip with white shorts and white socks instead of the standard blue shorts. The adjustment forms part of FIFA’s equipment regulations and does not reflect a decision made by either federation.
Tuesday’s match will also mark Colombia’s fifth different uniform combination of the tournament. The team opened the World Cup in its blue away kit before using several variations of its home uniform as opponents changed from one round to the next. Adidas manufactures the uniforms for Colombia and Puma does the same with Switzerland, but FIFA determines the final colour combinations independently before each match to avoid visual overlap between the competing teams.

Colombia arrives in Vancouver after defeating Ghana 1-0 in the round of 32 to reach the last 16. Switzerland also advanced from its round-of-32 match and now meets Colombia with a place in the quarter-finals at stake.
For both teams, victory would equal or improve one of the best World Cup campaigns in their history. Colombia’s deepest run ended in the quarter-finals in 2014. Switzerland is seeking its first appearance in the last eight since reaching the quarter-finals as hosts in 1954. The winner in Vancouver will secure a place in the quarter-finals, where the tournament bracket will continue to narrow toward the semi-finals.
FIFA’s confirmation of Colombia’s uniform has added another talking point before kickoff because many supporters associate the yellow shirt, white shorts and white socks with one of the country’s most memorable World Cup victories.
