Memorial fund created for brother and sister who died on Lake Geneva
Caleb, 6, and Abigail, 7, were among three children who died when winds reached up to 100 mph during an unprecedented storm in Walworth County.

A memorial fund has been established for two of the three children who died when a boat capsized during a severe storm on Lake Geneva.
The GoFundMe campaign identifies 6-year-old Caleb Oswald and 7-year-old Abigail Oswald as two of the victims of the July 3 incident. According to the fundraiser organized by Brad Oswald of Wheaton, Illinois, the family is directing all donations to a children’s charity rather than keeping the funds.
“While our hearts are broken beyond words, we want their legacy to be one of hope, compassion, and helping others,” the GoFundMe page states. “The Oswald family will not keep these funds. They will be donated to support children and families through a charitable organization, ensuring Caleb and Abigail’s memory continues to make a positive difference in the lives of others.”
The siblings were among 10 people aboard a boat that overturned on Lake Geneva when an unprecedented storm struck Walworth County. The National Weather Service confirmed that winds reached up to 100 mph during the storm.
Authorities noted that all four children on the boat, including the survivor, were wearing life jackets.
The fundraiser describes Caleb as a boy who loved music, dancing, and trucks. “He loved Chick-fil-A so much that he would proudly tell everyone he wanted to work there when he grew up,” the page reads.
Abigail is remembered for her quick wit and energy. “She had a huge heart for others and dreamed of becoming a teacher one day because she wanted to help children learn and grow,” the fundraiser states.
The family has requested that people consider donating to the charity fund in lieu of flowers, meals, or gifts.
